    In the simplest terms:

    You like guys.
Guy x Girl = 50% of what you like
Guy x Guy = 100% of what you like.

Self-insert yaoi for girls exist though, if she's after that. Y'know, uke that are too girly that they might as well be girls.

No definitely not all. Same goes for men.
You see looking at pornographic imagery, in general, isn't exactly something that is seen in a positive light by the general public.
    Especially if you're younger.
My friend said the same thing in the past, though for me it was accidental in the way she found out (She had an annoying habit of looking at peoples phones.)
I simply just told her that everyone is different, and the world is not that black and white. The human mind is a complicated thing.
Ironically I (also accidental) got her in Junjou Romantica.

Personally, I wouldn't be friends with her. She's a homophobe, that's generally a no no for me.
But you can tell her that watching two attractive people, both of whom you're attracted to, is literally double the fun

how is that coming out lol

My stance on yaoi is that of any other form of expression: if it harm none, do what ye will.

On a personal note, I am quite fond of yaoi -- or anything pertaining to homosexuality in general -- due to my bisexuality. I am able to easily relate to the various subjects contained within such content. Consequently, I find validity in myself because I am being somewhat acknowledged as person.

It is difficult to watch any television shows that contain un-stereotypical gay males, or listen to music that speaks of gay love, and I am yet to uncover any bisexual characters in any form of entertainment whatsoever. Thus I turn to yaoi that features "normal" (so to seak) gay or bisexual characters. As I mentioned earlier, this gives me an odd sense of belonging or a kindred feeling.

As far as females are concerned, this is a bit more complicated. Stereotypically, a homosexual relationship is dramatic, intense, passionate, and "exotic" to those not partaking in one. It comes as no surprise why girls gravitate towards yaoi for these very reasons.

Yaoi contains the basic premise of various sources that most females are typically drawn to: love, drama, passion, heartbreak, and so forth. These elements -- combined with males -- equate to an ideal form of entertainment for an average female.

I also look at it from a male perspective regarding lesbianism. A typical male teenager will tell you that lesbians are "hot" or that they enjoy the visual stimulation of seeing two females together in an intimate manner. I suppose it all has to do with the human mind, fantasy, imagination, and wonderment of something that is foreign.

Ehh...yaoi is pornographic material...it's porn with an actual plot. If she's a true friend she'll get over it. If it disturbs your friendship, then she was never a real friend to begin with

how is that coming out lol @Anonymous

    This lol.
When will y'all stop acting like reading yaoi is the same as being actually gay?

Bullshit like "i came out as a fujoshi" is honestly fucking stupid, if not borderline offensive to actually gay people.

    勝悦 February 2, 2018 4:31 pm

I personally think that there's no reason to tell anyone... except if you're sure that the other person likes yaoi as well.

I hope that friend of yours apologizes or sth .... I mean c'mon at least she should've been more respectful to you ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍ when expressing his discomfort.

    Kazenami February 2, 2018 4:41 pm

That was not surprising actually. I'm more surprise for my friends reaction. I thought they would be disgusting but they said that I'm free to do what I want to do so, they just let it be.

But being fujoshi/fudanshi is quite uncommon to the general public. I don't think it was meant to offend gay people; there is a parallel as it is also marginalized and it reflects how society judges homosexuality.

    takame February 2, 2018 6:34 pm

nope, actually i'd say 50/50 women likes yaoi and the other does not.
btw, if there is something as coming out here, it's about being a fujoshi/otaku. coming out as one is even way harder in japan. we are a minority here and "coming out" doesn't exactly relate to sexuality.
basically, you are reading gay porn, that's what it is no matter how me or you or anyone tries to justify yaoi so I think it's natural that your friend will misunderstand. since she can't wrap her mind on new information. try to drew an easier example like it's how men enjoy their occasional eye candy that is a lesbian make-out

You know what actually weird is? Your friend. I don't want to be rude but that's not friendship.. if i told my bff that i'm even a pedophile rapist , he won't judge me and cut off our friendship ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

other people had the right to be shocked or things like that, you know. we digest new information differently. it will depend on how they will talk about it later, don't judge the friend easily too.

If you have friends that would accept a pedophile rapist, even if we're just talking theoretically...then you have horrible friends ijs....

    Faye February 2, 2018 7:20 pm

Only my boyfriend know about it and he’s okay with me being fujoshi and i love him for that but I don’t really think people will understand us I don’t really get horny or anything when I’m reading it’s just brings happiness to me and that’s hard thing to explain to people
