I don’t fully get why there is so much hate for this story either. Yes there are times when the MC’s motives and actions are questionable, but otherwise this is a really good story.

At least in my opinion. And I have read both this and Goblin Slayer.

I too just decided to read goblin slayer and unlike the goblins in that stories the goblins here show humanity. Even the MC of the story was a human in his past life and remembers that humanity that leads him to better his other goblin counterparts I don't think it's as gorey as goblin slayer although they're are also themes as sex it's not as violently shown as in goblin slayer

No, people who like Goblin Slayer seem to hate this manga.... and we’re wondering why? Sure, as I said... some of the MC’s actions and motives are not always good. But otherwise it’s a good story in my opinion.

Personally, I think what we usually see in ecchi mangas is worse than what the MC in this manga does. Because in ecchi mangas, the guy does a lot of perverted things openly, and the characters move on like it’s nothing. While here, again the MC is doing questionable things, but the reader isn’t being made to see it; it’s generally glossed over as something that happened and then the story moves on. I’m not saying we shouldn’t call him out on it, but in comparison this is more preferable, than reading about someone gloating about their perverted accomplishments.

I just read goblin slayer but in the end it has not changed my opinion on re:monster. I guess others just don't read enough horror mangas like I do. Σ(っ°Д °;)っ

I think people’s main issue with this manga is the fact that the MC is raping the prisoners. Yes, he does wait until they give their concent, but it’s while they are under the influence of drugs, so in legal terms; it does not count as them giving their concent. And people find this a bit hipocritical, because at other times he has either stopped his brethren from raping people outright or with the girls, he waited until he had their concent.

My view on it is, while it’s not good that he’s doing it, and my view doesn’t justify his actions; it does give a plausible reason. The fact is, he doesn’t really have a choice in the matter. Because he has an army of goblins who are eventually going to get upset if they don’t have a chance to procreate. Yes, one could argue that they could get it on with each other, but both this story and many others (I believe Goblin Slayer as well) have established the fact that goblins have a low success rate of mating with their own kind. So as the leader, the MC has to do something, and he decided that giving his brethren the prisoners was the best option, since for the most part they either wouldn’t be missed or he could explain away their disappearance.

As I said, my opinion doesn’t justify what he’s done, but it gives a reason.
