I'm more of a story first, art second kind of reader, but I get what you mean. The art isn't at all typical and the facial details, though beautifully done, are a bit much at times. Yet, most of this mangaka's characters look very similar. That said, I am always impressed with this mangaka's story telling abilities. The universes she creates and the characters who populate them always seem relatable, to me at least. The themes and "morals to her stories" always resonate well, again, for me. Like this one, how all the moments you share are what build up your love for someone. It seems simple, but yet it is conveyed beautifully. For this reason, I find it easy to overlook the atypical art style and just enjoy the story.
I always get recommendations about this mangaka but I never read one coz I didnt really like the art. I mean what kinda person have eyes like that?? I know its fiction but still!! But I dont regret reading it. The plot was good and the characters development was carefully planned.
