The point is, the ex told Aki to either follow him and abandon sth Aki loves or break up cuz if Aki won't follow him he won't be needed anymore. Ldr wasn't even a choice for the ex. However Shun doesn't want to make Aki choose which to abanon but to just be with him regardless.
To add, the ex was probably just afraid that ldr wouldn't last long and can't be blamed that much. But he's the one who made Aki choose so he has no right to butt in anymore sfter Aki has already moved on.
I feel bad for the ex. Aki did not follow him. It means Aki did not love him enough to give up his life there. But with Shun, Aki is willing to take the risk of being in a long distance relationship.
