agree. and there is one flashback where woojin said he considered dating gayoung when they were in high school but didn't try because he felt like relationships at that age are not serious. in a way he didnt want to lose gayoung (say they date and break up). and maybe he wasn't sure if his "like" back then was romantic or purely platonic. but his friends (especially the dark haired one, who had a crush on gayoung) had been noticing that he was super protective of our donut :)
to be honest, woojin said his feelings were after she confessed to him and maybe thats true but as a reader I think they both were developing feelings gradually overtime; they liked each other without realizing BUT i might be wromg ahhh. But wow just binge read this and do not regret i love it so much!
