what is a cliffhanger? (I'm new to manga)

A cliffhanger is actually not just for Manga it can be for books, movies, shows, etc. It's when something ends with a shocking revelation. Leaving the reader with a "to be continued" or sometimes "the end". It's a device that leaves the reader wanting more. Hope that helps (couldn't really find the words to explain it).
