I remember that Gao-subs ( the one who translated it) explained after the later volumes when it became clear valentine was a girl, that they were never sure in the beginning what sex she had because in japanese it never says ”he” or ”she” (or if it was similar to each other I don’t remember, it was years ago)

Okay, so in chapter 22 when we're first introduced to Valentine, we're told he's a boy, but later in chapter 47 (I think) we're told that she's actually a girl. I haven't finished the story yet, but I'm guessing that isn't explained. I'm just a little confused.
