It's quite surprising that this manga is made by the same author as Otouto no Otto (one of the best LGBT representation in a manga). I thought theres no way this author can make hardcore mangas... Well, I was wrong XD

Oh, yes he can! He can even do waaaaaaay worse than this. There are actually a lot of people who like this very much and find it very sexy... the people who hate those femalish yaoi-characters, you know? Eager to see an erotic gay manga but totally turned off by the weak sentimental wide-eyed half women in usual yaoi...

He's not really "yaoi". This title is mostly given to manga that are destined to women, and that tell love stories between two men, but of which one is actually playing the part of a woman, and the other that of an "ideal" man: a romantic, sensitive, lovely, cute and all-in-all too-good-to-be-true man. The way they behave and react is more like women than like men, you can tell it's mostly women who write and draw them, and women who read them. they're not really meant for gay men, at least not in Japan. In the west, gay love stories (especially with sex in them) are still quite unexisting in comics, so in the west yaoi are considered material for gay youngsters. But they're not meant to be, initially.
Bara however, and the manga that Gengoroh sensei makes especially, are specifically meant for gay men. They usually portray men either as they are, or as ideal men as well, but from the male point of view: not sentimental en effeminized, but huge and bulky and extremely masculine. Those are actually the only manga that are really destined for gay man, in Japan as well as anywhere else. Bara mangaka don't refer to their genre as "yaoi": in fact many of them resent being called so... Bara is for Alpha men, yaoi is for wussies XD

I've read somewhere that gengoroh sensei doesn't like the term bara either, just gay erotic comics lol

That's true. Bara (薔薇) means "rose" in Japanese, so it's not at all something you associate with hairy bulky men.
I find Gengoroh's drawing style to be awesome. I would prefer one of the couples he draws to be a little bit less enormous though, especilally in the more SM-like plots: the bottom sometimes looks bigger and stronger than the top, and in an SM-context that looks a bit absurd. You keep saying to yourself: If he's that big and strong, but still let's that other one bully him, he's a wuss!" and you stop veeling sorry for him. That's a bit of a turn-uff for me. But then manga is fantasy, so... I guess we let Gengoroh sensei do as he pleases

same same same! I'm a girl you know but nowadays I'm somewhat tired of femenine looking dudes and I sometimes read bara. I agree with the art style of erotic gay manga in general are way too exaggerating but I guess is because is for gay dudes lol. I'd like to see BL mangas with "normal" looking dudes I mean not too femenine not too muscular just in between, just like CTK's, ueda aki, natsuki natsume's ones but I also quite enjoy Sakira and Mentaiko's too lol. It depends of my mood. Gengoroh sensei plots are just too much for me I mean I can handle it but is just not my cup of tea lol ( I have read the ones with tentacles or the ones with rape with amputation and I was no, that's too much lolol) I think the thing you said about the bottom being more huge than the top is ok for me, the authors can do what they want and I think is a refreshing idea, it might be confusing but you know the objective is to be erotic so I guess is ok (=・ω・=)

Wouldn't it be nice if we all had our own private mangaka to draw exactly what turns us on the most? We'd tell him and he'd make a fantastic manga about it and not judge us for it... :-P
