A frequent happening in manga is people feeling ill or fainting because of 'animia' which is not having enough red blood cells. The cure in manga is apparently eating something. Wouldn't that be low blood sugar?

Nope! Someone who has low blood sugar is hypoglycemic, an anemic individual however, is just iron deficient. The proper cure to anemia is eating foods that are high in Iron, like liver. (=・ω・=)

Oh yes, though severe anaemia can cause fainting - but to fix anaemia you need several months of iron tablets (and in my case - severe) a blood transfusion to build up the red blood cells.

There is also the weird idea that getting caught in the rain can give you a cold or the flu, and that seeing erotic images gives nosebleeds LOL

Well I know how hypoglycemia works. It just seems to me that you can't cure animia with one meal.
