But apart from that, personally in that position I would feel completely different if it was "just" this intense emotional and desperate hug, rather than the kiss. To me the kiss would probably feel too pushy, ignorant/intruding and make everything worse.
So I'm a little, I don't know, at odds with this? Dunno, let's hope in this case it works well instead.
