I mean, are they talking about a Neosporin type product, cause yowch.... That does not sound like the kind of thing that would effective as lubricant and the chemicals would leak into your blood stream like a suppository...

Slow your roll. There is nothing wrong with using Neosporin on the anal or vaginal area. Obviously, it will not have the lubricating qualities that a proper personal lubricant has, but it is far better than spit and hair. An antiseptic gel that contains alcohol will obviously sting and dry the skin, but it will not do any permanent damage. Antiseptic gels like Bactine contain no alcohol and having antibacterial elements introduced into your body are not harmful at the levels found in such products. You would have to introduce the equivalent of a case of Bactine to cause harm to the bacterial content of your bowels and intestines. In fact, most gel substances, regardless of their intended purpose, have the same base ingredients. So, your Astroglide or Gunn Oil contains the same base ingredients as Bactine and Neosporin with the added ingredients of extra lubricant for personal lubrication gels and antibaterial elements for Bactine and Neosporin.

I am not only a nurse, I am also an elder leader for a BDSM club where we often use both antibacterial gel and lube. Minor injuries that occur during club gatherings are my responsibility. I have been the on-site medic for 15 years. I assure you, you can use Bactine and Neosporin on the anal and vaginal areas.
