What the actual F.

Why on earth does this have such high ratings. Has the standard for yaoi really dropped this low? Illogical (barely there) plot, typical rape trope, "omg I've known you for 2 seconds and you physically abused me but now I love you" shit. What?? And now the author is trying to play it off as some fluffy, romantic story? What a waste of good art.

If you have the talent to draw like this, use it more wisely. Creat an intriguing, genuine romantic story about two broken people and DON'T USE FURTHER ABUSE AS A SELLING POINT. More yaoi authors need to realise that you can create a romantic relationship between two guys without having one raping the other (twice!) and excusing it as a menial plot device because it's okay! They'll fall in love anyone! Because that's totally sane and healthy!

With the amount of young people who are exposed to yaoi these days, the amount of rape/abuse tropes played off as a means to start a relationship is seriously worrying. I thought mangakas would have progressed in their ways of thinking over the past decade.

*** EDIT: So many negative comments just because I pointed out the obvious. Please read my reply further down if you want to know why I feel like this, rather than judging me because I don't have the same tastes as you!

That rape scene totally made me uncomfortable. Like, why. That must have hurt a lot. And then at one act of kindness, everyone's squealing like... that guy just raped him y'know.

I know, right? Actually, it could've been a redeemable manga is seme at least tried to make uke feel good. But he forced him twice. I know there is no way you'd feel good when raped in real life, but through the magic of yaoi it is possible in mangas and while I don't particularly like when that happens, it certainly dulls the feeling that this is rape. But tu put actual realistic rape into that and make uke fall for seme later is just horrible storytelling.

I can't believe that there were so many thumbs down to your comment. I am honestly dissapointed in fujoshi/fudanshi community here.Sure, I'll admit. There are some good comics with a rape tag, and I've enjoyed ... shemi

Oh my god, yes ! A person who can critique a manga, without getting overly defensive about it's shortcomings ! I have heard this "iTs JuSt FiCtIoN!!11" excuse so many times that it genuinely irritates me the moment I hear it. Yes, captain obvious, we all know that it's fiction and not real life. But unless the manga denounces all sense of reality (presents itself surrealistically), the story is still based on reality.
The rape trope irritated me not because I'm an overly moral person with frigid views, but because it's handled so carelessly. If it's handled carelessly, it's just bad storytelling. I have actually read mangas which Have handled the rape very carefully, and actually touched on the issue as an issue (Not like "ehehehe you raped me now i luv you eheheh"). Basically, it didn't feel like a toddler got to know that something controversial named "rape" exists, and just throws it around for the sake of shocking others.
So, before anyone says,"iTs JuSt FiCtIoN" , "LoOk At ThE TaGs!11!" or " If YoU dOn'T LiKe It, Dont ReAd IT !!!1".

1.) Yes, it is. It's badly written, shocking for the sake of shocking, and pandering fiction.

2.) A person can read the tags if they like, or not read it if they don't like. They can criticize the story regardless. Tags aren't the best representative, considering a lot of mangas have really unfitting tags. Also, the "Rape" tag doesn't represent dog shit, because most of us are fine with "Rape" in mangas (not including those who feel psychologically triggered). Unless the tag says "badly written story" or "rape handled very carelessly", it still doesn't help. I have liked mangas with the "rape" tag, so what's y'all's point? Oh, you have none... ;)

3.) Well, we have read it and we don't like it. So what? I don't consider reading bad things a complete waste, neither do I view criticizing that a waste. I have the right to criticise, and express my opinions. But you telling us to "shut up and don't read it if you don't like it" is EXTREMELY HYPOCRITICAL. Why did you read and reply to the comment if you didn't like it? Are you a special case, who is immune to your own principles ??? Don't your holier-than-thou rules apply to you as well? Well if they don't, then you're a massive hypocrite.
