I have never heard of this.... I guess its possible. I read all sorts of fanfiction and manga that sometimes involves things that would be seriously creepy and wrong in real life (t.ex rape, shota/loli, incest) so i guss homophobic people can enjoy the fiction but not in real life... Sry trying to work this weird logic out :P

If it's because of religion, I would say it's hypocrisy. Plain and simple. Then you should'nt read yaoi because of the same reason, right? And I think shipping men together itself isn't wrong. If you read stories involving pedophilia, rape or incest, and you read them knowing they're wrong, for me that's ok too. I liked watching Dexter, but it doesn't mean I like serial killers. I think you would be the one going to hell for promoting hate. Instead of being a dick about that whole thing, how about being a civilized human being and being supportive as much as possible until people are ready to. Everyone has their own situation. I think you don´t get the main problem. It´s about people who enjoy reading yaoi, but think real gay people are disgusting and hate them just because they are gay.
You don´t need to shout it out loud that you support LGBT. It´s the support in your heart. I know that there are areas in the world where people have still medieval mindset. And I understand that people are scared to support LGBT because they would be an outcast, or worse they would get killed. But you can support it silently in your heart.

And in my opinion religion should be there to make people happy and make the world a better place. If religion hurts people in any way, it´s not worth being called a religion. It´s just bullshit to control people.
And sadly there are so many dumb people out there, following some religious rules and never ever ask themselves, what kind of sense those rules have and why they are following those rules.

A thing to note is that, you could follow the same religion as everyone else but your thoughts are your own. Other people have families that follow religions that don't support gay people, but they themselves support gay people anyway, so....

I don´t understand why being gay is considered wrong. People were also gay thousand years ago. There are also gay animals.
It´s alright if someone doesn´t like the idea of dating someone of the same sex. Everbody has their own feelings, it´s alright. But don´t abuse religion as excuse.
Don´t get me wrong, I think the idea of religion is good and it has the potential to make the world a better place. Religion itself should be pure and helpful.
So please don´t make religion into something horrible.

I agree, if religion punishes you for something you can't control, something that makes you yourself then I refuse to acknowledge anyone that gives credibility to it. At the end of the day we have a choice, and there's no religion that have some sort of magical powers that can control you in doing some shtty thing. I didn't intend this post to have lots of argument, I really just wanna vent tbh but seeing half of the comments here make me lose faith in humanity. I don´t have a problem here on this site, it´s more in my private life. I have a gay best friend, I´m maybe bi and I have a homophobic brother-in-law. And he is religious.

I don´t have a problem with religious people, I just can´t understand why people can blindly follow some rules without thinking about the sense of these rules.
I just want the people to wake up. People should always question their doing, the rules they follow, the things they believe. Religion is a good thing if you use it right.

I think most of the people who are homophobic are like that because they were taught that way. I want the people to realise that no religion tells you to be homophobic.
But hey, there are countrys now that allow gay marriage, so maybe not all humanity is lost :D
