well i am asian too, and was raised with the same way of thinking as you, but i don't see anything wrong in drooping out of education if it isn't what make you happy, besides they are living a good life, maybe not luxuries but they have what they need and they are happy with each other (=・ω・=)

It is funny how the most narrow-minded people I know are also most highly educated, phd holders, etc. Educations does open doors for employement and better standard of living but it doesn't open up everyone's eyes or minds. See, the education is of no use if you only memorize it, give exams, pass and forget about it. True education is learning, practising and preaching.
Just because education is a way of opening doors for your future does not mean that it is what you need in your life, which the two characters here clearly did not need. With their toxic families, they need anything but “education” ^^
It may be a shame to us, but they never needed it to begin with and I really respect these characters for taking that step that none of us would be courageous enough to take.
I thought the same but then they have another goal in life : acting and that can be achieved by working hard~ I felt bad for the parents tbh even if they were harsh at the children. They’re still their parents :3
but i guess because i am asian and raised to think that way, it is a damn shame that they didn't finish their education. say what you will about the edu system, it is a channel to open up doors and your eyes imo
