It's funny bc people are expecting the characters to treat child better.
But it just goes to show that the mangaka kept to their personalities. Athlete boy is a quite selfish and unsympathetic child, that's why he didn't even take notice of uke's hardships and even tried to put the blame on child. And the father also had his own insecurities, and as men (in Asia culture), these things should be kept hidden because it shows weakness. And men shouldnt be insecure and weak, that's why he turned the tables and blamed his son instead. Which really made them have their own personalities. Just because it's fiction doesn't mean that everyone should change in character to suit one person in the story. I agree that the ending was soso But I think it had its charms. Plus about the chores that he went back to doing, he stopped because he was troubled with athlete boy. He could've stopped so much sooner, but when shit happened with athlete boy, that's when he took action and wanted to leave. Then when things got better, he changed his ways cause he was more confident. Or at least that's what i think. Kudos to the mangaka :)
