That translator note

Starsandmetaphors August 25, 2018 9:14 pm

Honestly, the translator note was so retarded. Y'all can go ahead and read the story even if you think it's shit or has elements you don't like and y'all can go ahead and dislike it too, because it's your freedom; in the same way as people are free to like it. Quit acting like people aren't allowed to be critical.

Nowadays people think freedom of speech can only be used if you've got something nice to say. Fuck that. It's like the translator was triggered by people not agreeing with their preferences, and in retrospect, that makes it sound like the translator is a 'snowflake' too.

    My thought exactly

Sure, people have the right to read what they like and don't like, it's their freedom, it's their right, they can also be critical about it.
But when they don't like a particular element and are clearly warned about it beforehand, why waste their time to keep going ahead and read? Just to take out, not a critique, but awful words/bad judgement.
As people give an ok to rape in a fictional works, some have the right to say it's not ok.
As people have the freedom to read, they also have the freedom to pass.
Same with how homophobics actually able to ignore the homos, but they choose to send hate and bad words instead. Why don't people use their time wisely?

You may think they aren't 'using their time wisely', but that is a subjective thought. What you value as important and wise, shouldn't be the same thing as what others value as important and wise.

Also, sidenote. You've completely wrong and missed the point by using homophobics as an example here. I'm talking about people being critical or voicing their opinions on a story or a genre on a website where they are free to do so. Not about people hating on other people in real life, where you are not free of the consequences of your actions. That's a whole different discussion.
