you'll probably miss out on some details + the second season of tokyo ghoul had a completely different ending from the manga so i suggest reading it from the start or from where season 1 ended

Read from the beginning, it’s worth it. Season one follows the manga for the most part, season 2 is completely different. Forget about what happens in the anime at that point. There’s a lot of details the anime doesn’t include, and it’s just overall worth the read.
