The way I interpret it is that Eric did not die (since Shell shot him on the metal plate) but he cannot live freely among the humans and vampires because he chose to act as the sacrificial lamb (so that both the sides would not go into war). So he now has to hide in the south where it is abandoned. What Shell means by 'meet not at the end but beyond that' is that he wishes for them to meet again in a world where they don't have to struggle with who they are, where they don't have to hide their true selves, where they can be who they want to be without people judging them for it.
I don't think Eric is dead, Shell still gets to meet him but since Eric can't go out in the open, it is not as frequent. Plus, Reign mentions that he is running low on an important ingredient for his perfume so if Eric was infact dead, the prefume wouldn't be possible to make. They are living well and happily in hiding.
I think the 'not meet in the end but beyond that' was meant as a 'the age of humans as slaves ends now and we will meet even after this end - in the beginning of a new age'. So, Eric is alive and well and maybe someday, when most ppl don't remember him anymore, he will be able to come out of hiding and openly live with Shell... Well, the last part is just something I wish for XD
Ok some one help me so does shell kill erick and is Erick dead or what ahhhhh
