Which Popular Manga/Mangaka aren't to your liking?

missunderstood December 7, 2018 8:05 am

I don't mean hate them. I mean are there much loved Manga/Authors which are also highly rated, but you kind of finding it/them just average? Tastes differs, and I assuming everyone experienced, even if a manga is highly rated by majority, that must not mean that oneself liking it as well - or am I the only one?
So I thought I ask for it for killing time and hopefully without stirring up a disput....
One exampel from me (and I can already hear the indignation) would be Natsume Isaku. The most of it was good and okay, but never belonged to my favorites.

For me, there's one time that i cannot enjoy certain manga fully... i mean, when i read it for the first time it feels boring but then when i reread it on the other time, surprisingly it becomes interesting
    Well that's from me ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I love Natsume Isaku! She likes drawing bickering love, and I love those, so it's a no-brainer for me. It's definitely down to taste and preference.

Mine would be Takarai Rihito (Seven Days, Hana series, Ten Count). I used to like her works very much many years ago, but I stopped reading BL for a long while. So now that her works are mostly completed, I now find her works to be all feelings with no substance to the point of not empathizing when the characters spew sentimentalities. I even dropped Ten Count because it went in a direction that I had no interest in reading.

I see your point in case of Takarai Rihito. Still I've the feeling to get better entertained by her stories, while some of Natsume Isaku manga have its longueurs, also do I prefer the drawing-style of Rihito compared directly.

Being usually into smut, Id say I ignore anything that doesnt caught my eye easily and that doesnt involves smut. Im sometimes into Tragedy/Psychological if I want to take my time reading something but I usually just go to quick fap materials that has loads of smex pages with beautiful/yummy artstyle (uncensored, if lucky). Bonus points if its humor is on par with mine. I cant really name one since I dont really see them in my radar from cherry picking

So i'm not the only one who thinks like that!( ̄∇ ̄")
I do think that Seven Days is really "plain", and i abandoned Ten Count after reading it about two chapters!
And just like you,i love natsume isaku works..mostly!

Smut is neither a selection criterion nor an exclusion reason for me. Although the drawing style is one, if I absolutely dislike the art, then I can't read the manga....True story, the reason why I've never read a Story from Fujisaki Kou. I've once tried and directly dropped it. Sorry but I really can't stand it.

LOOOOOOL ....And here I was thinking I could hide myself in the anonymity of the internet. And no one would ever hear about my darkest secret. How much I'm yearning for these corny second hand emotions, that I'm able to feel by reading sentimental BL-Manga....Sorry - I think I need a kleenex..... ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄ ╥﹏╥

Wow, just two chapters? That's actually fast. I think I dropped it at the point that Kurose did this unethical medical practice by taking Shirotani on as a "patient". That was a power imbalance I couldn't get behind. But hey, high-five for knowing we're not the only ones thinking that about her works. ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

I don't feel any "attachment" while reading it, same goes to Seven Days. When i got the urged to give up, i kept telling myself: come on it would not kill you just by reading it to the end! ( ̄∇ ̄") Sorry to say this, it's kinda rude. But that's what i feel..
