Someone please tell me if this story ends well

I check out the ending and it doesn't look good . I'm I seeing thing bc I don't know the story

it's more of a bittersweet ending.
I've reread this story MANY times.

I've had to read it many times just to come up with a theory that gave me peace of mind.

It ends fine. The seme fakes his death with the help of the uke for reasons and they live their lives happily ever after with the uke commuting back and forth from civilization to the wastelands where he's stashed his lover.
