This has been one of the more complete story lines I have read. That being said it has also been one of the most devastating endings ever. From the first chapter we knew Rais life force was greatly depleted and no effort could replace it though they all tried in their own ways. For me, the story was mostly about how he spent his last days, fulfilling his duties. I remember Lazark said that when they live as long as they do how they choose to die is a thing of great importance. I am honestly saddened that there was no way to save Raizel, but his ending was a fitting one. I cant wait to see the epilogue...poor Franky.
I think Raskareia embodied the values of the nobles to the very end. How she dealt with the werewolves and choosing to go into an early eternal sleep. She deserves a special mention, she really was an excellent lord.
Muzaka...his story was bitter sweet but he too was an excellent Lord, though he tried his hardest to escape it. Once duty called he answered and acted for the survival of the wolves, plus he was Rais first friend and even if they fought he never considered him anything but a friend (Bromance? lol)
I'll miss the kids.
Excellent series, really sad ending but I think the role of the noblesse was always to die for others which is why his life force was tied to his power. No one can have absolute power without a way to keep them in check, just as the presence of the noblesse acted as such for the nobles and werewolves the depletion of his life force did the same for the noblesse. I mean, imagine an insane or power hungry noblesse without weaknesses. Disaster right?
Thats my tidbit, I'm going to go cry in a corner now for the loss of not just rai but the kids, Rais knights, the nobles, frankenstein...everyone. I've been following this series for the better part of 10 years (yes i started following it late). Those guys have been around for a long time sighz, i will miss them all.
