I have NEVER !

Torian January 5, 2019 6:12 am

In all the years and thousands of manga I've read, I have NEVER (until now) heard the phrase "Eat you out" ! That is such an American saying, it was bizarre and a shock, to see it in a Japanese manga ! ROFLMAO ! Loved it !

Right?! You eat a girl out, you even "go down" on a girl (though that works for guys too), you blow a guy or give them head. It was just so out of the blue, it really shocked me. And it just felt off to me. Maybe you eat his ass?? But not his dick. LMAO

I know thats right ! LOL ! I think the shock was from the absolute vulgarity of it. Even in the USA its a vulgar term ... to see it in a Japanese manga, (because there're typically so conservative ), (and I've read some pretty shocking stuff !) !!!! I laughed my head off !!! I'm still giggling !!!

Now I am left wondering what the actual Japanese raws said in that frame. What phrase was written that an obviously American translator interpreted as "eating you out"? I'm fascinated by language and how idioms and common phrases translate across different languages and cultures. For instance, in Arabic, "I throw my left shoe at you.", is the equivalent of, "Go fuck yourself.", in English. The way humans mold and manipulate words to express so many thoughts and emotions is a never-ending fascination for me. I guess I am just a geek, but I love stuff like that.

Ha ha ha .... I wondered the very same thing ! If it had read "Rimming you out", I wouldn't have blinked an eye or had to pick my jaw up off the floor . . . . LOLOL. So yeah, what did it really say ? Maybe someone who can read kanji and looks at the raws will graciously let us know ? hehehehe ....

Oh, yes! I'd be eternally grateful. If it has furigana I can work it out, but I have the reading skills of a kindergartner when it comes to kanji. LMAO

Don't admire me yet! I know about 80 kanji - the first 80 they teach little kids - but there are 1300 kanji just in everyday conversations! That does not include advanced reading, like at a college level. That is like saying you can recognize the letter A in our alphabet and that's it. LMAO And I bet you know the kanji for river - 川 The kanji for big - 大 and the kanji for dog- 犬. And I know you have seen the kanji for person - 人. If you read manga, you've seen these kanji hundreds of times. So, you know some of the basics too!

Bwahaha ! ok,ok, I see your point. But I couldn't string any of them together to make even a simple single sentence ! I love you or "Aishiteru" is the only kanji I can actually write. LOL ! I keep telling myself "one of these days" I'm going to learn proper Japanese ! (bucket list) heehee

You should take a look at the free version of Human Japanese on Google Play. It was created by a Japanese Language professor and it is amazing! It doesn't teach you phrases to memorize. Rather, it teaches you the building blocks of the language so you can take any words and build your own thoughts and ideas. Basically, it is like taking a college level "Introduction to Japanese" course. The free version is good to get started. The paid version is $20, but it is worth every penny. Besides the language, there are chapters on customs, traditions and even things like how to bow properly that break up the intense language study chapters. I have both beginner and intermediate versions. If you try it out and like it, let me know and I'll help you get the paid version for free. Since learning Japanese and going to Japan are on my bucket list too, I have to help a friend with the same things on their bucket list! LOL

Oh, goodness, yes! I'd also like to soak in an onsen in Hokkaido with the monkeys! LOL

Great! I look forward to hearing what you think!

LMAO I take it you are not a fan of monkeys. I guess I might be uncomfortable soaking in a pool with monkey turds floating in it, but maybe if I can wear a bathing suit I could handle it! LMAO When I worked as a vet tech in Florida, we had a client who had two chimpanzees. They were horrible little bastards! One got so pissed off at me, he actually flung shit at me. I refused to assist the doctor with them again. I had to get a vaccination against hepatitis A, B and C after that incident! I didn't get paid nearly enough for that! Though still wild and unpredictable, the monkeys in Japan are not quite as aggressive as chimps. I think I could handle being close, but not close enough to touch.

Bah! My reply didn't upload! Oh well. I take it you are not a fan of monkeys. I love animals and have worked with many wild animals as a vet tech here and in Florida and Loisiana. I worked with hippos in the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, privately owned chimps in Florida, bears, wolves and mountain lions here in Montana and also wild raptors like hawks, eagles and owls, also here in Montana. Wild animals don't really scare me at all. I respect them and know how to act in their presence. Once you are asked to feed a bear, wolves and mountain lion in the same day, you pick it up FAST. LOL

Oh, I have nothing against the local wildlife ... I live on a farm. LOL I'm a Prof. Groomer (40 yrs). Vet Tech for 9 yrs. before going back to grooming full time. Also would "pet sit" several exotics from time to time. But I would want to relax at an Onsen without having to keep one eye open. LOL - monkeys can be obnoxious little shits if the mood strikes. hahaha ! I was laughing when I wrote that - and this ...

Wow! I had no idea we had THAT much in common! That is so cool. I kind of get what you mean. Relaxing and even dozing wouldn't be something I could do if there were wildlife around. That's a good way to end up hurt. We have a hot spring here in Bozeman - though it is mostly indoors and fully appointed - and I often catch myself getting sleepy in the warm pools. The pools that are outside are so much fun to be in when it is snowing. You're toasty warm and there is snow falling on your head. Maybe I could see the monkeys without being in the water with them? LOL
