The MC and the one who won the award were ex-boyfriends, but they broke up during college because the MC was pretty insecure and was facing a lot of failures with his craft while his then boyfriend was getting a lot of recognition and praise. The MC is now currently married (which the ex-boyfriend knows), and I think they'll reunite and become good friends!
