As an Asian, older generation Asians prefer sons over daughters cause in the olden days, the wife would go and live with the husband and his family, and Asians would rather expand their family then give their child to another family, hope it makes sense, kinda hard to explain!
A lot of Asian mums would be tiger mums, but they certainly wouldn't want their child to be "abnormal" (e.g, their child being a gender that they weren't born as.)
Welp, I’m asian. And it depends on the parents tbh. Like Mt grandpa have 18 children because he wanted a daughter and that daughter only born as the 18th child. And what I mean as asian moms is not like the asian parents won’t want a daughter, they have to continue the bloodline or the family name kind of thing. My dad has three daughters and clearly is unhappy about it. What I mean about asian moms here is how hard-headed and forceful they are, like if I say this, you do this, you’re not allowed to do that kind of thing. I wanted to get into literature major but mom said it’s unimportant and I have to study business, now that I don’t understand business at all, I got scolded a lot because I got a C. That’s what I meant when I wrote asian moms. Not because of the child gender.
I get what you mean, my original comment has nothing to do with grades, it was about gender. I do agree with you that if this was real life and he defied his mum, he would experience hell.
The mother is disgusting and emotionally / mentally abusive, but this was a pretty funny and pretty good manga.
