While I don't condone the act violence at any point, it's normal to feel anger. But once that anger is acted upon in an unhealthy manner, that's when you need help.
I know what Kan-chan did was wrong and abusive, he had his retribution and he feels extremely guilty for what he did to the point where he thinks he doesn't deserve love at all. While he knew he was abusive, he had mental health issues that were not addressed.
If he were to confront his problems in a healthy way, he wouldn't have had hit Yumi and they would probably still be together considering how much Kan-chan really loves Yumi. But I like the original plot the way it is.
Point is, Kan-chan is not naturally violent, he just went to a place that pushed him to his wit's end. He needed help and a way to get out of his old toxic work. He deserves forgiveness and a second chance in love. We should appreciate the efforts of a bad person genuinely trying to change for the better.
