i don't follow kpop anymore but what do you mean bts paved the way? They started in 2013 only, the ones that paved the way was super junior, shinee, bigbang, snsd etc ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ﾉ~ the true OGs

"Paved the way" means "to create a situation that makes it possible or easier for something to happen" bts made it easier for groups now to enter the western market. Therefore, bts paved the way.
