I take issue with you saying Mo's role is a bitch to He Tian. First of all he actually has a detailed backstory of his own not involving He Tian and a goal (again not involving He Tian). Idk about everyone else but I'm actually invested in seeing him make something out of himself, break free of being a delinquent, make more friends, open up, and reunite with his dad. Some of us actually like and appreciate Mo beyond fanservice and he does have a real role in the story and his own story to boot.

In other words yes they are rotten and dysfunctional but the author intends for them to be. It's been shown she can do wholesome. She deliberately writes them this way and even joked "don't be friends with these two."
The only thing that I'm pissed off with this statement (?) is that, you saying mo has no other role than being he tian's bitch. The heck, dude? Of coz he has other role. To bring out the drama (his background, family issues), to deepen the plot and to move the story. Author rarely create a character without actual reason. And like the above anon said, some people actual love and see mo more than just his relationship with he tian.
Addressing the negative relationship between mo and tian, yeah, sure. I won't deny that. But saying he has no other role... maybe you should, for once, see mo as a character as his own. Don't just be too invested on his relationship with he tian, but read him and view him as a character of his own story. There's a lot more going on than just relationship between two boys.

The relationship between He Tian and Mo Guan Shan and how the readers react to it is a test case about the long discussed case about how BL/yaoi genre may be problematic about normalizing and romanticizing abuse as love.
I am not talking about the readers who are mature enough to recognize and admit that the dynamic is a pet/owner master/servant kink and that's the attraction of it for the readers who enjoy this fantasy. Using fiction to fantasize about things that are non normative and wrong is after all not the same as condone these things. Seeing Tianshan for what it is ... a kink about an alpha male taming a bitch to be his toy is not a problem but there are very few readers here that actually call them for the kink fantasy that they portray.
I am talking about the majority that, amazingly enough, really talk about this relationship as something caring, romantic and a love story. We need to be smarter and better than this, especially if we don't want to propagate the idea that Yaoi readers are borderline mentally challenged that are incapable of pointing basic things like right from wrong.
The relationship between He Tian and Mo Guan Shan should be actually used as PSA for the risks of accepting a relationship with an abusive person who may not be that easy to spot because they do 'nice' things or show care. The fact that He Tian gives money and protection to Mo against other bullies ( because He Tian himself is also Mo bully) does not entitle him to treat Mo Guan Shan as his property.
It is astonishing the amount of little girls here seeing a very clear case of abuse --- He Tian demanding Mo to wear something to show that he owns him --- as something less serious and romantic as ' he is just trying to protect Mo' . Are we that stupid?????? What exactly is the whole point of He Tian saying that he is 'NOT ALLOWED' to take it off? What He Tian alway did and does to Mo Guan Shan when he disobeys him? He beats him up.
Again, enjoying Tianshan as a slave/master kink is perfect fine in the world of fiction but for the love of the mother that raised you, for the love of the friends that care about you, for the love of yourself, don't be that girl that actually see a very sad, tragic character that is Mo Guan Shan --- the bitch that has no other role in this story but to knell and bow to the alpha male in the kink --- and call this romantic and a story of love.
Maybe it is easy for you to see the sadness of Mo Guan Shan being passed from She Li to He Tian as toy if you change the gender. Imagine all the same scenes, imagine all the good things He Tian does for Mo and all the other things that you normalize as 'cute'. Can you really stomach seeing a love story with a man treating a girl like He Tian treats Mo? If so, why do you think a male partner is deserving of less respect?
He Tian tamed Mo Guan Shan through beating. He still physically intimidates him into everything. There is not one scene between these two where Mo is ever given a choice of anything. He Tian emasculate Mo Guan Shan and he looks down at him from his superior position of master. Love is about respect not ownership or dominance.
If you have a valid argument to say that He Tian and Mo Guan Shan are a love story and not an abusive relationship where Mo Guan Shan will always be kept on his slave place, tell me.
If you are here for the kink, I respect you more than the readers actually glorifying this depressing relationship as cute and caring.
