Those are german words, I think the "federvolk" is inspired by the german nazis during the second world war.
Federvolk means "feather people" (feder=feather, volk=people or it can also mean something like nation) and the other thing is selfexplaining now i think :)
this story is fiction of ww2, like upper reply; federvolk = bird people = german, so you can guess what "hail volk" meaning is.
i remember the author explained countries of origin based on animals in chapter 33.5 so you can look it up.
