I feel like at this drama is manufactured not because Yuyang is scared of rejection, that's perfectly valid, I just find the way it's been executed to be pretty meh. He was in love with Lin Xiang ever since he was first rejected by him and that was in their first year of college and turns out all this time he was also betrayed by a straight dude so why weren't these facts revealed in juxtaposition?? Or maube even hinted at during his moment of inner conflict when he wasn't able to move on from Lin Xiang? And isn't one of the main reasons he fell for Lihuan cause he seemed unrelenting in his admiration for him? I understand that he doubts it cause he's had a bad experience which makes him falter but is he really gonna negate that Lihuan has been pursuing him for a long time and that during ALL that time he never got a flashback of his ex too? I don't have a problem with his insecurities or his rejection, I just have a problem with how his insecurities have been popping up when it's convenient to the plot.
