Have you read it yet? If not, it's like this :

Masataka comes to Tokyo in 1920 to attend high school, to live in the high school dorms and make his own way in the world. On accident, he meets Souma Saiki, the son and heir of a businessman who is, by bloood, related to royalty. Because of the recession, the place where Masataka was supposed to have lived was for sale. Having Souma's card in his hand, he goes there, only to find a huge gate and no way to enter but by jumping the fence. He succeeded, only to find the butler dragging him away. Masataka begs to be taken in as an employee and is hired by Souma.

Masataka takes his job seriously, but at school and within the community, he hears rumors about Souma. One day, Souma begins his playing/flirting with Masataka, and it quickly escalates into a very bad situation that Masataka can't get out of. And then he begins to witness the many ghosts (not literally, some of them) that haunt the Saiki home.

Masataka is plagued by a beloved brother with a bad gambling habit who is yakuza (has a yakuza tattoo ), who hears of Masataka's employment and begs for money. Souma gives the money to Masataka's brother, but not without Masataka as collateral. This begins Masataka's nightmare.

This story is effective emotionally and mentally. There's things that happened years ago that still effect our two protagonists, and, for me mentally and emotionally, there is a wicked villian that still squicks me out, years later. Not light reading, but if you can see the light and how much the screwed up Masataka and Souma really do love each other (Stockholm *and* Lima syndromes ), it's a masterpiece in my eyes.
