How do you describe yaoi/BL character 'girly'? Is it because of their personality or their appearance? Because I've read comments thats kinda like 'thank god the character isn't girly' or something. If it's because of the personality, well, you can't really judge people 'girly' just because how they are right? You can't judge people girly just because they're a crybaby or 'shows weakness' because every one of us have our own weakness. And unfortunately their weakness is the one that is visible. But if you describe a character 'girly' because their body is too small or thin, I also don't see what's the problem in that. In my (ex) high school, some of the boys were short well probs about 150-160s cm. And I think some Asians are small so it's not 'girly' at all. It's not girly, It's just how people are. and even 'girly' isn't something bad. What's so wrong about someone being 'girly'?

authors really tend to depict the bottoms as "girly" and the tops as "manly". there's nothing wrong with it, but i feel like reading stories like these takes off the "Boy's love" aspect of the manga. it's like reading shoujo/josei.

The thing is...these characters look and act exactly like a shoujo manga's heroine. Their body and face look like a girl's,they litterally have curves and big annoying shoujo girl eyes(why do shoujo authors draw girls that badly honestly?!) and this is not cool because the author doesn't show any sign of actual femininity in this person, they just made him look like girls because they couldn't actually imagine two boys being together so they made one a girl with a dick. Another annoying thing is that in this type of mangas usually the seme says something like:"if he didn't look like girls I wouldn't have liked him because I'm straight" like bish?!I'm here to read a story about gay dudes not this bs!

I think it is just about tastes I personally dont like manga where they are too sentimental though I like men thin and cute, but I do think that to describe someone as girly or manly could be sexist, people can be mentally and physically very different independently from their gender and there is nothing wrong with it, is just that in the past genders had specific roles that are not necessary anymore and that is why some people still think that because you are a female you have to like dolls cause you had to become a mom or if you are a male you cannot cry cause you had to become a soldier, when genders don't have anything to do with your personality or tastes, again this is just my personal appreciation, I don't know if I got you right
