i think its more like the guy who locked May up had a cat that May reminds him of maybe?? also there is a lot of cat-like qualities in May, even physically (like his face when he's getting the bath)
I think May is actually a cat.
I mean, he doesn't really has a home, like a stray cat, he has memories he can't remember of of his past life with its master who finally found him again and doesn't want to lose him again. There's this thing about having to neuter him and this guy saying he is his master, and talks about losing him and says it's HIS fault he lost May, a typical thing someone who has lost its pet would say and not put the blame on the animal. And the overall looks of May, cat eyes and fluffy hair, quite a bad temper, stubborn, wild and doesn't want to be owned and wants to run away.
Plus "May" sounds like a name one could give to its pet, even if it may be a human's name.
Maybe I'm saying whatever, but I can't stop thinking that May is a cat, and we just see him as a human because he himself thinks he is a human or something.
