and basically this is not a romance story. Instead a story about relationships and she said Mashuu wasn't going to grow up. I'm kind of sad but also understand. I figured it would go this route bc of the massive age difference; like she said there's a delicate and dangerous balance when you're describing a relationship between a child and adult. I'm conflicted again lol. I wanted him to grow up. It's like a realistic ending to the dream that kids have when they have a crush on an older neighbor or friend and it kind of makes me sad bc I dont really like reality. The interview basically just gave me the ending of the story so not sure if I'll continue reading...sorry for the unpopular opinion.

    Well...I completely agree.

Yeah I might drop it as well. There's so many other seinen/josei with older male/much younger female like Usagi Drop. I was excited for this one to have the opposite and Satoko definitely is a lot more down-to-earth than most protags, so I trust her not to be a creep. Sad to see it go platonic. Poor Mashu lol

Actually she alreafy said (in an interview, i guess in a prev chap forgot what) that Mashuu will definitely stay as a boy throughout the story as the title says, 'my boy'.

While im also conflicted with the romance, at the end of the day i dont care if they are in an ambigious relationship or whatnot as long as they are together in a sense (im relieved that author dont plan to separate them). The thing with romance is that it makes this viable but its not the only relationship in the world, aint it?

Did she specifically say that it wasn't going to be a romance? She mainly said that she's morally opposed in real life to romances between kids and adults, which...duh.

I thought saying that she wasn't going to separate them in the end was her way of confirming they would end up together at their current ages.

Nevermind, I went back and it does say that she has no intention of making it an "age-gap romance." That is disappointing...it's hard to imagine either of them being happy with anyone else at this point in the story, and I don't want them to grow apart, either. :/
