Well, they're both young and awkward, aren't they? You can't really say this represents how the Japanese are as a whole, but there usually no sex-ed class, so it's not strange they'd experiment. Plus, I think it's because they're so young that they're trying to figure out exactly what sex and love is and trying to manage something.
Well, i'l try to comment it. I find japanese thinking of sex really ... strange? How much satisfaction you can get, if only satisfy your sexuall desires? The kids do not understand anything in life but try to manage something only through sex.
This kind of primitive thinking gets trully to my nerves. So, do not really like it.
