maybe the tone of it was lost in translation ; "miya ni nara dekiru to omote", i think he meant " 'i can do it (kiss you) since it's you, miya,' is what i thought "
maybe not 'since' but rather 'because it's /you/, miya' idk
Okay but fair, “I thought I could do it if it were with you”? - not exactly screaming “get me in the mood”.
