I think I won't mind it if it's handled well - with restraint and without taking away from the main goal of the story - since it was shown from the start that he had liked her in his previous life, but was too mediocre to join her and the others and had to watch her go off and fight and eventually die. So far, though, she's nothing special personality-wise.
I do agree that the story wouldn't feel lacking without any romance at all, and it COULD be spoiled with romance.
I want a more exciting character to be his love interest, someone that’s able to give more depth to the story and surprise both us and the mc; cause at this point the pink chick is really predictable and could’ve been easily replaced without changing a single course of the story. Though I guess we’ll have to see once more chapters come out.
Yeah, she doesn't look promising right now. If we can trust the creators, then perhaps on this journey she'll undergo a lot of interesting character growth. It's not bad for him story-wise to have a companion to bounce off, but so far I've probably enjoyed his interaction with...whassisname, little mechanical genius...the best. I'd probably also like to see a partner (romantic or platonic or even frenemies) who challenges him to some personal growth of his own.

Hhhhh I feel like I’ll be attacked for saying this but I really don’t want the mc to have any sort of romantic relationships if all of them are going to be as dull as the one with the pink girl, I feel like it’ll distract from the point of the story.
