so the parents are trash but the emperor seems kinda like trash as well. what sane man would tell people to float their babies down a river? (nevermind the sun damaging their skin it's also likely some of them could roll out of their bundles themselves and drown, and before anyone says "well the parents would save them"- nearly every single baby in the empire is participating. imagine this as a full grown person surrounded by boats, typically you wouldn't even be able to find them in that chaos.)
and then he decides thats still not good enough and uses magic to make the waters more rocky? like wow how wonderful that he loves his son enough to not care if he accidentally kills an infant or two, what a great father. (given plot logic i doubt anyone will actually die but if this was more realistic he'd be viewed as a monster because several children would likely die in the process.)

i'm still going to give it a few chapters but so far i'm kind of just irritated with most of these characters for being horrible people. （￣へ￣）
