I read the wife’s dialogue again and it’s very touching imo. The wife and papa are pure blood vampires and they have lived for a very long time, experiencing all kind of tragic bondings. Thus the wife and papa “built sandcastles” (ie closing their heart to others) but eventually, someone will come and make them open their heart again, and that someone will either perish or go evil. It is similar to a sandcastle being washed up by the waves, no matter how many you build, the wave would come destroy it. The wife chose to face that reality by dying, while papa decided to kill everyone that dared to get close to his heart. Alas, Gunchan was the one that succeeded. He could hear papa’s feeling and wanted him to open up his heart, while being alive.
