Novel first is the best choice. The others are just fragments of the story. Although manhua follows the novel religiously, it's best read from the source itself.
You should definitely read the novel first. The live action and anime did a great job too :) They had to cut out the romance due to censorship but you can still feel their chemistry.

I only read the manga so far, and i am interested with the novel, anime and the live action drama. But i am confused, which one should i watch/read first? I don't like spoiler, so i feel like if i finish one it will spoil the other versions. I am torn now Q.Q
