At page 13 were mary and the goddess looked at one another it conveyed so many feelings pain and longing from mary and nothing but love and care from the goddess all those years (200!!) Mary believed the goddess must be resenting her and that why she always burned while praying but no it was just mary's wish to be punished for betraying her guardian deity that caused the flames not once has she hated mary

It reminded me of a story the pipi long stocking author Astrid Lindgren once told ,that she was told by a conservative pastor wife that that said wife decided to never beat her kids (in a time where it was the norm) because she didnt belive that anything could be am excuse to hurt your own child so when. The she had a sone and he with 5 did something so bad that it warranted a beating she sent him out to find a stick for her to beat him with but completely hysterical sobbing the boy came back with a stone and told the mother to beat him with that, this was the moment the pastor wife realised that for her son the fact that his mother the primary source of love , acceptances and care was going /willing and ready to hurt him that was more painful than anything else. The pastor wife then realised this huged her son and put the stone somewhere she would always see it as a reminder

In a way the goddess is for me the embodiment of this pure motherly love unconditional and unwavering, just pure love if a mother who would always no matter when or where accept her child, protect it and defend it from harm. So simple yet so complicated in how deep rhus love runs.

.... anyway wherever i think avout that scene i cry
