Oh, I don't particularly see Claude and Athy that way but I do agree with you that Athy and Lucas don't have romantic chemistry. They seem like good friends to me, which is rare because most times I end up shipping friends but this is just the opposite. I don't know, there is just no sexual tension. I'm probably worse because I ended up shipping Athy x Jeanette lmao
i think thats kind of the point no? lucas doesn't realize he can have romantic feelings for humans so he does not make an active effort to gain athy's heart, other than being midly irritated. athy is preoccupied with stitching together a family and not dying so she doesn't really seem to see anyone as a potential love interest (not to mention that she's actually an adult, so when she does seem to show any interest in lucas it's when he's in his adult form though i might be reading into that to much). i guess the vibe between her and her dad does come over as romantic , however i feel like it's more just her being gratefull for having another shot at a fulfilling life with an actual father figure, even if he kinda tried to highkey kill her. she doesn't have the issues that would come from relying on him as a father figure when she was a child, because she wasn't a child and saw him for exactly what he was: a (psychopatic) dude with issues. so her relationship with him is kind of strange, but not stockholm syndrome strange if you get what i mean. honestly if anything this whole novel just screams daddy issues to me lol ╮( ̄▽ ̄")╭

This is supposed to be father-daughter genre, but why do i get the feeling that everytime claude and athy have scenes i have this romance feelings. Ugh i do not fancy incest but they have more chemistry than athy to lucas. ( ̄へ ̄)
