"You should try to be more quiet" =_=
Gotta say, that one made my inner feminist roar in anger. I know I'm reading too much into it. ^_^'

It's like: "Here we have the perfect female. Try to be her. She's shy, quite and beautiful." ... And then i'm like: "...Guess you're not my soul mate" (i'd just say this in a shojo-manga :D)
I'd have more fun leaving him flabbergasted ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Personally, I see it as a way for HIM to also talk. A lot of times girls talk so much the guy only gets to say "yeah." Do you want a boy or a man? Someone you can talk with and not to...there is a difference. And lots of people talk too much when they are nervous. Maybe it was a was to calm her down. This is coming from a 34 year old married woman who dated her now hubby online :)

I think there is some wisdom there, and also he was instructing her in some of the more subtle cues she could use to indicate her affection that would be totally lost or impossible if her guy were distracted by talk or she started using her hands on gesturing while talking. It may have also been along the lines of 'be quiet so he can notice what you are saying in other ways'.
