Just because "it's life" it means it's not sad? It's still sad to not have your love returned.
Plus, we don't fucking care about what's life or whatnot here. If we are reading about an MC (main character), then I expect a happy ending for the MC. I mean, good try with a different trope and all but I just really want a happy escape, ya know?
