I might be wrong but i don't think she was 'okay' with male pronouns.. you see in that era where KKK still was a big thing and homosexuality was an unspeakable thing saying that her im a woman to everyone that misgenders you wasn't acceptable ya know? It would cause many unnecessary problem.. even tho J doesn't show how uncomfortable she is.. she wouldn't say anything cuz as you saw she used to be called so many disgusting things so misgendering wasn't that much of a deal for her... once again i might be wrong but i think J is a beautiful woman who just wanted to be accepted and loved for who she was..
i agree with you i think j is gender fluid/non-binary their ok with being a boy and a girl you know? j might feel more like a women sometimes or a man either way j is j : D

um thats what non binary is? non binary is when you ise they/then pronouns and you arent either a man or a woman. gender fluid is when a persons gender changes just like what happened with j they could be a she and a he next. please research the terms i used before you try to say im “silly”.

Well, I think J identified herself as a woman, but by the time she lived, she couldn't fight to defend her gender identity.
I think it would be proper to call J non-binary. He/she is fine with being called "she" but he/she is also fine with dressing up as a guy too, fine with his/her own body, and fine with the pronoun "he" too. So I would assume J is non-binary. Non-binary people can be fine with being both genders, and have various pronouns, but there are also non-binary people that lean more feminine or masculine, and J does lean a little more feminine.
