It's common in Asia since white skin is associated with wealthiness.
Not being tan at a certain time was associated with wealth because you were so rich you didn't need to work out doors... Myself on the other hand am so damn pale it's sad lol
agree and yep I know how you feel, I am very pale and I have dark brown hair, and I live in a place where everyone is tan (even my own family) and people are always "omg you so pale'' ''why don't you go under the sun get a good tan" "are you sick?' I dunno why they care so much ? also people think I'm a tourist in the street and ask me where I'm from and are surprised to learn I always lived here. --' And I happen to like my pale skin actually, and well I protect myself from the sun coz I get sunburn a lot (I have blond's skin)
People in my town (region even) takes tan very seriously and must feel pale people are not part of them, like you know social differences and all, I always think about those things lol but they surely are unaware of what they are doing (I dunno if I explained myself correctly I am tired lol)
Where are you from? I'm very pale too and my friend is always like: "omg you are pale like a death or vampire!" and I don't feel good with it. I can't be tan, because of skin problems (atopic), but my family always says that I should be more often on the sun. Ew..

I live in the South of France... yeah near the beach. --' It happened in my life that got a bi tan (long time ago) but mostly I burn, I am brunet but have the skin of a blonde ^^
anyway tan is overated I think tanning is not good for the skin anyway
