here and there i’m hearing the argument that “it’s just not realistic” for all the characters to be gay couples and i’m like.. if it were straight teens playing music with each other and ending up falling for each other, we wouldn’t hear a peep from those “critical of the romantic genre” or whatever. let us gays have fun ffs.. whenever a piece of media contains any sliver of queer romance, it’s suddenly supposed to uphold some ridiculous standards and be unarguably well rounded and good and realistic and multidimensional an so on.. and now that “given” got a wider audience, this criticism starts to spread. yet hetero romance gets crammed into the plot even when there’s zero chemistry between the characters. so what i’m saying is i’m tired and i’m just happy to read about queer teens falling in love ( ಥ ‿ಥ )و
