I see from the comments that most the other readers had to stretch themselves to try and understand what they had read as well. I don't think this story was meant to have a clearly defined end. And that's okay.
Definitely worth reading. Definitely NOT worth re-reading. (Or at least not until my IQ has been boosted 10-20 points.)
