While her attitude towards or FL was inexcusable these past few chapters, we cannot really hate her now especially in this chapter. She, like every girl in this story, was raised to be poised, graceful, ‘flowers’, to obey men etc. At the very least, she didnt act stupid when her handkerchief was not chosen and chose to leave peacefully. She didnt harbor hatred to FL but rather worry about what others think of her now that she ‘failed’ to get the princess’ attention.
Rather acting haughty when she was cornered with those drunk guys, the teachings she was taught since child held her down and she was unable to defend herself in her vulnerability. At this point, you got to give her credit now. She wasnt a villainess. The words of her teachers (or probably even her own parents: likely her dad) was so strong that it hinders her to stand up on her own and not think of her own self. She probably dont even want to get married (cuz she mentioned she didnt really love the Duke anyway, just a good potential husband for her) but had no other way to escape the expectation of the society other than get a good man and get married.
At this point, i just felt sorry for how she was raised. Any girl for that point and our FL felt the same imo. She was raised the same by her greedy father, used by both her greedy ex fiancee and cousin. Hopefully this starts a good relationship with the two girls and maybe Julia had an aptitude for summoning and our FL will teach her to be more independent and be the kind of woman to not need a man (or jump into marriage when you dont want to) and wait for that one guy who would love her and she the same to him.
