The plot got room for so much development, but once you're stuck with a useless girl (kind, insecure, crybaby and not a single own thought to save her life) there's only so much you can do. I'd have appreciated this kind of story when I suffered through puberty - now it just makes me sigh ^^
I didn't like it that much either. The girls were way too wimpy. They cried all the time.
You hit the nail on the head. As someone who's actually dealt with all this crap and realized how useless it is to cry about it and do nothing, I find this sort of manga painful to read. Which is one of the reasons I find most shoujo painful to read...the heroines seem content to just let life happen to them, rather than taking relentlessly pursuing what they want. Sigh ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
