So...... As someone who enjoys learning about other religions.... This was brash on the authors part, there was no research done at all. And, if there is one thing I've learned when studying religion it is that, if it is not your own you will never truly understand it. Always get an outside opinion from someone who has that religion. You learn more that way and make less mistakes.
